About US

Our mission

We have witnessed over the years, with the rapid urban development, that many beautiful hardwood trees are cut\bulldozed down, placed in a huge burn pile and lost forever. To us, this is a senseless loss of a precious resource God has provided. We create custom, handcrafted heirloom furniture made from locally salvaged timber and specialize in live edge furniture.

Our Story

My name is Darryl Emily and my wife, Christi, and I are the owners of Urban Timber Supply here in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I am a native Tennesseean born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. I started woodworking back in 2013 when my first of three sons was born. It has been a self-taught hobby which I have absolutely loved since the beginning when I hauled a downed log with my first tractor from a piece of land we owned and cut it into mantles and firewood to heat our home which, was at the time, a log cabin.

I recently had the great privilege of going full time with Urban Timber Supply from a 20+ year career in the world of IT. So now, my days consist of doing all that makes up creating one of a kind pieces from the many live edge slabs I have locally sourced and salvaged from burn piles and from being chipped and lost forever.

I enjoy doing every bit of the process of taking a salvaged log and turning it into a piece a family will be able to cherish for years and generations to come. That includes sourcing, procuring, milling into slabs and lumber, kiln drying, planing, sanding, using epoxy resin, fabricating the steel legs, and finishing the tables.   I have a connection with each piece I create for my clients because I have been with each piece from the beginning when it was still a log to the finished piece. I know their stories and love sharing their journey with my clients. I truly believe I have the best clients and friends in this industry because each and every one comes to me with a vision and an appreciation for the trees their heirloom furniture comes from. I do not take the lives of these trees lightly and am thankful for each one and I know my clients do as well!

I have enjoyed a healthy, active lifestyle my whole life with sports including mma, soccer, football, basketball, volleyball, and golf. In sports, I learned practice, dedication, sacrifice and work ethic. As I am getting older, I see that same passion for work ethic that I used to be the best I could be at those sports, I translate that into my woodworking. During every stage of the table making process, I strive for perfection from sourcing beautuful logs to taking great pride in the milling process and getting every slab as perfect as possible to get the best cuts out of the log. I take the proper care during the drying stage so that no color is lost and no bleaching or artificial alterations occur. Keeping the wood as natural and as God created is my goal.

I have done many things in my 48 years around the sun including mixed martial arts fighting, IT professional, personal trainer and group fitness instructor,  artist, home builder, bass fishing and too many home projects to count but my favorite things I have done is become a husband to my wife of 10+ years, Christi, and a father to my three sons. They are the reason I work hard everyday and do what I do!
